What Waylines is, and isn't

Waylines shows career routes, pay ranges, timings and automation-risk estimates built from public data and statistical modelling. It is information, not advice: not career counselling, not financial advice, and no guarantee that any route, salary or timeline will hold for you. Big decisions deserve more sources than one map.

Where the numbers come from

Every number in the app carries a badge naming its source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, O*NET, U.S. Department of Labor disclosure files, U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard, U.S. Census Bureau, and CareerOneStop, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, with data provided by the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development. Live job-posting counts come from Adzuna. Government sources do not endorse Waylines. Numbers labelled modelled are our own estimates and say so.

Your part

  • Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for activity on your account.
  • Enter honest information — contributed histories flow (anonymously) into the shared map, and junk makes the map worse for everyone.
  • Don't abuse the service: no scraping, no attacking, no attempts to identify other users.

Our part

  • This is a free testing-phase service, provided as-is. We aim for accuracy and uptime and promise neither.
  • We may change or discontinue features; your diary can be deleted by you at any time (see Privacy).
  • We'll never sell your personal data.
